Locked Out!

They're finally locking the doors to our house so we're locked out :(

We knew it was coming but we were hoping we had one more week where we could sneak in and check things out.

We went by yesterday and peaked through the windows and we saw that they put in our hand railing, cabinets, counters (we think), and doors. The house is also all painted!

Obviously, no pictures this time or in the forseeable future since we can't go inside. My bf may try and schedule a time to meet our PM during the week but it's not feasible for me since I work so far away and pretty much work the hours they work.

Hope everything is going well with everyone else!

  1. I stopped by our house last night and noticed that they had put the locks on the doors as well... but the front door was wide open. So they can lock us out, but haven't yet. I'm with you, I'm going to be super bummed when that happens! Our PM said that once they start locking though, the model home will have a key and you can get it when they are open - have you checked on that?
Yay for all of the goodies inside!!! We only have paint now, but am hoping to see cabinets and more later this week!

    1. I'll definitely check with the sales office! I tried every door and every window and they locked it up tight so that's our only option!

I'm sure your cabinets are on the way! So exciting!

  2. Check the garage door... For some reason they lock the front but not the garage doors. Also, they usually don't lock the patio door either. If you REALLY want to sneak in there are ways. Lol!

I know the model keeps the keys as well in our community too. So maybe stop in there and ask.

  3. We got locked out once the furnace and hot water heater were installed. This was before they had finished the plumbing, HVAC, and electric. As Bridget said there are always way to sneak in, open windows are a good one too.

On the plus side for you guys, things will be done in no time now.

    1. Haha! I definitely had the will to sneak in but just couldn't find a way! They locked everything we could get to. Bummer. We'll definitely check with the sale office though.

I know! We're less than 4 weeks away from closing! Crazy!

  4. Once you get locked out, you know the end is in sight! :-) Woot woot...Our PM started locking door when the appliances were installed, to protect against thievery. It's bad enough some houses get raided for the copper wires when they are still open. I was very fortunate to live close to our house and I drove by everyday. I would walk through the house even when workers were there, but I didnt overstay my welcome or bug them. Cant wait to see pics when you do get in there ! :)

    1. The end is so close I can taste it! I can't wait! We went by on Saturday and just walked in with workers there, haha. They didn't care so it was good! I'll definitely post pictures soon!

  5. I know the exact feeling you had. So weird that we can have such an attachment to our building. But that is really how it is. I mean I suppose it was our "home" and we have lots of memories there. It is also exciting to see what changes are being made on the property before you actually move in.
